Jacket EX / Vinyl NM / French pressing

This lovely LP from Critère (CRD 177, French pressing, white label, mono, booklet included, textured sleeve) entitled “Simphonies, Fanfates et Carrouzels Royaux” features rare orchestral works by Lully, Delalande, Charpentier, and Mouret, all brought off with wonderful elan by Le Collegium Musicum de Paris under the direction of Roland Douatte.

This remarkable ensemble boasted an extraordinary array of talent, and among the virutoso participants that can be heard on this album are Maurice André (trumpet), Pierre Pierlot (oboe), and Paule Hongne (bassoon).

The exact contents are as follows:

Jean-Baptiste Lully: Carrouzel de 1686

Michel Richard Delalande: Simphonies pour les Soupers du Roy

Marc-Antoine Charpentier: Marche de Triomphe

Jean-Joseph Mouret: Fanfare pour des trompettes, timables, violons, hautbois, bassons et basses

Jean-Joseph Mouret: 2nd Suite pour les violons, hautbois et cors de chasse

These inspired performances were set down in the warm acoustics of la Comédie des Champs-Elysées, Paris in June 1963 (producer: Frédéric Robert / engineer: Gilbert Préneron).

Included is the 4-page booklet with extensive notes on the music by Frédéric Robert, printed in French only. The striking album design is uncredited.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is minor wear at corners as well as mild shelfweaer. However, there are no seamsplits, owners' markings, bends, or other defects, and the whole remains solid, bright, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector's copy.

The condition of the booklet is near-MINT – no flaws to speak of, a superb copy.

The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Though the surfaces are not perfectly silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM collector's copy.
