Keilberth/Bamberg SO: Mozart Syms K 385 "Prague" & K 543 - Telefunken SLT 43012

$10.00 USD

Telefunken (LP)

Jacket VG / LP NM

The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD+. There is a letter “R” stamped to the front, as well as mild edgewear and ringwear, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, owners' markings, bends, or other defects, and whole remains solid, bright, and attractive – overall, a very good collector's copy.

The condition of the LP is near-MINT and playback is superb – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.

This handsome LP from Telefunken (SLT 43012, German pressing, blue label, stereo, original inner sleeve included) features Joseph Keilberth and the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra in a wonderfully stylish and beautifully pointed all-Mozart progam, recorded in the warm acoustics of the Kulturraum, Bamberg, in November 1955.

Included are the following works:

Symphony No. 38 in D Major K. 504 “Prague”

Symphony No. 39 in E-flat Major K. 504

The underrated Keilberth was a remarkable musician, one now enjoying critical reassesment following Testament's issue of his transcendent 1955 Bayreuth Wagner 'Ring Cycle'. Hopefully, this will lead to further re-issues from Keilberth's large and highly distinguished discography. His Mozart is revelatory, and comparisons with Walter, Krips, et al. are not to Keilberth's disadvantage. The sound throughout is superb.

There are excellent liner notes (uncredited) on the reverse side of the jacket, printed in German and English. The cover art shows Prague, the painting also uncredited.
