This outstanding LP from Columbia Masterworks (MS-6775, US pressing, gray “360 Sound” label, stereo) features Leopold Stokowski’s pioneering account of Charles Ives’s Symphony No. 4, taped with the American Symphony Orchestra in the rich acoustics of Carnegie Hall, New York, on 29 April 1965.
Joining Stokowski and the ASO on this momentuus occasion were associate conductors David Katz and Jose Serebrier, as well as Members of the Schola Cantorum of New York (Chorus Master: Hugh Ross).
