¥112.00
Jacket EX / LP NM / German pressing
This superb LP from German RCA (VICS-1199, German Teldec Telefunken-Decca pressing, red/silver label, mono) features conductor Fritz Reiner and the mighty Chicago Symphony Orchestra in a stunning program of orchestral works by Maurice Ravel and Richard Strauss.
The exact discographic details are as follows (all works recorded at Orchestra Hall, Chicago):
Ravel: Alborada de gracioso, from Miroirs
(rec. 13 April 1957)
Ravel: Pavane pour un infant défunte
(rec. 2 March 1957)
Ravel: Valses nobles et sentimentales
(rec. 15 April 1957)
Strauss: Le bourgeois gentilhomme (Orchestersuite aus der Musik zum Bürger als Edelmann) Op. 60
(rec. 17 April 1956)
This is conducting – and orchestral playing – at the very highest level, absolutely brilliant, and with sound to match.
All four recordings were produced by Richard Mohr and engineered by Lewis Layton.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is slight bumping/wear at corners, as well as minor creasing, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, or owners' markings and the jacket remains perfectly solid, bright, glossy, and very attractive in appearance – overall, an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Although surfaces are not absolutely silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM collector's copy.
