This handsome and elusive 10” LP from French Columbia (33 FC 1070, French pressing, blue/silver label, mono – no stereo edition exists, “baguette”-style jacket, dowel spine) features conductor Herbert von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra’s resplendent account of Schumann’s Symphony No. 4 in D minor Op. 120, richly recorded in the warm acoustics of Grünewald Church, Berlin, on 25 April 1957.

The striking cover design was executed by Atelier Cassandre. There are informative liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Tolia Nikiphowetzky, printed in French only.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD. There is some minor cracking along the edges, but not true seamsplits. There is also some discoloration and aging. However, the album remains extremely solid and and highly attractive – overall, a very good collector's copy.

The condition of the dowel sleeve is EXELLENT. The lower seam of the paper sleeve is a bit weak, but that is all – a fine copy.

The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Although surfaces are not perfectly silent, this is a fine copy and playback is quite fine. However, if you must have a flawless or NM copy, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, rates as an excellent collector's copy.
