Fodor/Maag: Paganini Violin Concerto Op. 6 / Mendelssohn Op. 64 - RCA ARL1-1565

Jacket NM / LP NM / LP pressed in Italy - jacket printed in the UK
This superb LP from RCA (ARL1-1565, Italian RCA pressing / UK jacket, Red Seal label, stereo) features Eugen Fodor's brilliant accounts of Paganini's Violin Concerto No. 1 in D Major Op. 6 and Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor Op. 64, both recorded in 1975 with conductor Peter Maag and the Philharmonia Orchestra (producer: Charles Gerhardt and John F. Pfeiffer / engineer: Philips Wade and Edwin Begley). In the Paganini, Fodor plays the cadenza by Emile Sauret. The sound is of absolutely demonstration quality.
The fine liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket are by Christopher Palmer – provided in English only. The striking cover photo of Fodor was taken by David B Hecht.
Incidentally, the vinyl for this particular pressing is thicker than one normally encounters for this period, not at all the floppy Red Seal pressings typical of this era.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is near-MINT. There is the faintest shelfwear, more so the rear panel, but otherwise the album appears almost as new. There are no seamsplits, bends, or owners' markings and the whole remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – an outstanding collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. The surfaces are pristine – overall, a beautiful collector's copy.
