Pesek: Dvorak Sym No. 9 + American Suite - Virgin Classics VC 7 90723-1 (sealed)

Jacket EX / LP MINT (sealed) / German pressing
This very rare late-issue LP – a still-sealed copy – from Virgin Classics (VC 7 90723-1, German pressing, turquoise label, DDD stereo) features conductor Libor Pesek and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra’s magnificent accounts of Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 in E minor Op. 95 “From the New World” and the same composer’s American Suite Op. 98b.
Pesek and the Liverpool players bring a true slavic ardor to these performances, which are imbued with a tremendous sense of occasion, marring power and poetry in equal measure.
Both works were warmly recorded at Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool, during 5-7 October 1987 (producer: Andrew Keener / engineer: Mike Clements).
The cover photo of Pesek was taken by Alan Wood, while the album design was executed by Tayburn Design Consultants, London / Mantis Studio, London. There are superlative liner notes by Hans-Hubert Schönzeler, provided on the rear panel in English and on an insert in both German and French.
CONDITION – PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. Although this is a genuinely still-sealed copy, there is nonetheless some minor bumping at corners and a small tear to the cellophane. This was a promo copy and there is a stamp, consisting of needle-like holes, at the lower-right corner. Otherwise, the album is like new – overall, an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP is MINT. This is a still-sealed, unplayed copy – the ideal collector's copy.
